Carey celebrates gold partner sponsorship of The Accidental Zoo with an in-house zoo experience.
Carey’s employees were treated to an in-house visit from the Accidental Zoo in celebration of the ‘gold’ sponsorship partnership that the business has undertaken with the Guernsey charity.
Two lunch and learn sessions by zoo owners Charlotte and Ryan Le Guilcher were held for staff at Carey’s offices at Elizabeth House on Les Ruettes Bray on 27 April. Over half of the company’s 70 staff learned about the corn snake and royal python that were guests at its offices.
Hayley Bradshaw, member of the Carey ESG group, said: “We hold a big interest in the zoo’s social impact approach here in Guernsey and we’re thrilled to be a gold partner. The team here is looking forward to building a creative partnership and being actively involved through both volunteering and support.
“The visit to our offices was a truly unique and professionally run learning experience. We were all engaged and we’re very grateful to Charlotte and Ryan for offering an informative and hands-on session which was definitely a break from the usual day.”
The Accidental Zoo joins the Teenage Cancer Trust Guernsey Appeal as Carey’s two appointed charities of the year for 2022. Both charities are benefitting from funding and from time committed by employees, either through giving hands on practical support or by offering time and personal skills or experience.
Through its programme of ‘Carey charity days’ employees from Carey will be undertaking a range of volunteering activities. These include helping on the Accidental Zoo’s stall at The West Agricultural & Horticultural Show and getting involved at the zoo’s Castel site, helping to muck out and feed the animals and undertake site maintenance.
